Former Deputy Sarpanch Murdered by Farm Worker in Sardhar

A grim tale of betrayal, exploitation, and revenge unfolded in Sardhar village of Rajkot district, where 53-year-old former deputy Sarpanch Haresh Savaliya was brutally murdered by his farm worker, Manoj Palas. The incident took place on the night of May 23, 2025, when Savaliya was alone at his farm. Using a trident, Manoj fatally attacked him in the chest and fled the scene. The Rajkot City Crime Branch later tracked and arrested Manoj from Dudhhirapat village in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh.
During interrogation, the accused revealed two major motives behind the murder. He alleged that Haresh Savaliya repeatedly made unwanted advances toward his wife and attempted to force a physical relationship against her will. Additionally, Manoj claimed that he was promised a 33% share in the farm profits but received only 25%, despite numerous pleas. Both the personal insult and financial deceit led him to plan the fatal attack.
Further investigation revealed that Manoj Palas had a prior criminal record in Madhya Pradesh, including a 2021 case under the Excise Act and a 2022 case related to assault and threats to kill. Police sources also disclosed that Manoj’s wife had left for her parental home days before the murder, citing Savaliya’s harassment. Her parting words — “You failed to protect my honour” — reportedly provoked Manoj to take extreme action. The murder has sent shockwaves through Sardhar, where the victim, a former village leader, was well-known and leaves behind two sons.

રાજકોટ જિલ્લાના સરધાર ગામમાં એક ચોંકાવનારો બનાવ સામે આવ્યો છે જ્યાં ભૂતપૂર્વ ઉપસરપંચ હરેશ સાવલિયાની તેમના જ ખેતરમાં કામ કરતા મજૂર મનોજ પલાસ દ્વારા ત્રિકમના ઘા ઝીંકીને હત્યા કરવામાં આવી. ઘટના 23 મેના રોજ બની હતી જ્યારે હરેશ ખેતરમાં એકલાં હતા. હત્યા બાદ મનોજ મધ્યપ્રદેશ ખાતે નાસી ગયો હતો, જ્યાથી ક્રાઈમ બ્રાન્ચની ટીમે દૂધીરપટ ગામથી તેને ઝડપી પાડ્યો.
આરોપીની પૂછપરછ દરમિયાન જાણવા મળ્યું કે હત્યાની પાછળ બે મુખ્ય કારણો હતાં. મનોજ પલાસે આરોપ મૂક્યો કે હરેશ સાવલિયા તેની પત્ની સાથે અશ્વલિલ વર્તન કરતા હતા અને જબરદસ્તી સંબંધ બાંધવાનો પ્રયાસ કરતા હતા. બીજું કારણ હતું કે હરેશે ખેતીના નફામાં ૩૩ ટકા હિસ્સો આપવાનો વચન આપ્યું હતું, પરંતુ માત્ર ૨૫ ટકા જ હિસ્સો આપ્યો હતો. વારંવાર વિનંતી છતાં પૂરતો હિસ્સો ન મળતા અને પત્ની સાથે થયેલા અપમાનને કારણે મનોજે હત્યા કરવાની યોજના ઘડી.
પોલીસ તપાસમાં જાણવા મળ્યું કે મનોજના વિરુદ્ધ મધ્યપ્રદેશમાં અગાઉથી બે ગુના નોંધાયેલા છે — એક 2021માં એક્સાઇઝ એક્ટ હેઠળ અને બીજો 2022માં મારામારી તથા જાનથી મારી નાખવાની ધમકી માટે. હત્યાના થોડા દિવસો પહેલાં મનોજની પત્ની હરેશના ત્રાસથી કંટાળીને પિયર ચાલીને ગઈ હતી અને જતા પહેલા પતિને કહી ગઈ હતી કે, “તું મારી ઇજ્જત બચાવી શક્યો નહીં.” આ વાક્યોએ મનોજના મનમાં ક્રોધનો જ્વાળામુખી ફાટી પડ્યો. સરધાર ગામના પૂર્વ ઉપસરપંચની નિર્મમ હત્યાથી સમગ્ર વિસ્તારમાં શોકની લાગણી છવાઈ ગઈ છે.
