127 year old Padmashri Swami Shivanand Baba visits Porbandar

Bangladesh born Swami Shivanand Baba visited Sandipni ashram in Porbandar who was honored with the Padma Shri Award by the Government of India last year in the field of Yoga and Social Service.He met Shivanandji who is known as the happiest and oldest person in the world. He said that the secret of long life is yoga and sattvik food.

Swami Shivananda Baba was born on August 8, 1896 in Sylhet (now Bangladesh) and is now 127 years old. Shivanandji has been honored with the Padma Shri Award in 2022. Doctor Sharmila Sinha, who accompanied him, said that after Shivanand Baba received education from Guru Omkarnanda in Kashi. Having mastered yoga and meditation, he went to London in 1925 AD at the behest of the Guru. And he returned to India in 1959 AD by spreading the Vedic way of life in the western countries. So far he has traveled to 50 countries. After some time Gurudev Omkarnandji renounced his mortal body declaring Shivanandji as his spiritual heir, Swami Shivanandji stayed in India. Sivananda Baba was born in a poor family, there was no grain of food in the house. Sivananda Baba said to get up before sunrise to do yoga for one hour early in the morning and to observe Brahmacharya as long as possible Eat boiled food without pure vegetable oil salt and chilli Sivananda Baba has practiced Brahmacharya all his life.

He has adopted a style of living based on God through minimal necessity. Currently he resides in Varanasi, the land of Lord Kashi Vishwanath and even at the age of 127 years is engaged in the service of leprosy patients besides regular yoga practice and training. He is a living example of the principle that longevity can be achieved through service treated and desired stress-free living
